        The University of Minnesota Supercomputing Institute offers research programs to various colleges. It offers a variety of software packages on chemical and physical science, database systems, engineering, graphics and visualization, life sciences and mathematics. The institute provides access to a variety of computing systems, including Calhoun, Blade, Altix, Netfinity and Regatta. The University of Minnesota Supercomputing Institute operates basic sciences computing, computational genetics, biomedical modeling, simulation and design, as well as scientific data management laboratories. It organizes a range of programs and events. The University of Minnesota Supercomputing Institute offers courses in computational chemistry and fluid dynamics, structure mechanics, design optimization, and structural and molecular biology. The institute also offers courses in bioinformatics, computational biology, genomics, proteomics, scientific visualization and geophysics.
