        The real issue for physicians should not be what the Dade County Medical Association can do for them, but what physicians can do to protect the integrity of the medical profession for future generations. Community based and academic physicians need to commit to organized medicine to ensure that the young professionals they train will have a vigorous and healthy profession in which to practice. Given the restrictions under managed care and severe government cutbacks for teaching, research, and clinical care, academic physicians should rally around organized medicine. Likewise, for many of the same reasons, community based physicians need to commit to organized medicine; who besides the DCMA continues to push for legislative and regulatory solutions to the many challenges facing the health care system and will continue to fight against any measures that would decrease access to quality health care and harm the citizens of Miami-Dade County. Physician members are the strength and power of the Dade County Medical Association.
