Mr. Berehanu H. Challa should be disbarred. Since being admitted to the California Bar in 1995, Challa has managed to lose several "easily" winnable cases, because he remains imcompetent, unprepared, and indifferent. He's been sued by several former clients, sanctioned by the California Bar Association for ethics violations, and is currenctly being sued for legal malpractice. Challa manages to miss deadlines, fails to appear in court, makes excuses for his inabilities, and shows no respect for the judicial process. Currently, there is a bench warrant out for his arrest, the third such warrant to be issued this year. To date, he still owes $5600 to the court reporting contractor, is under investigation for malpractice, and still owes restitution for outstanding business obligations. He does not carry malpractice insurance (even though his contract says he does); and a recent notice of eviction was filed in San Mateo County. Do the research on him yourself. Check the public records of San Diego, Alameda, San Mateo, and San Francisco counties. There's a number of interesting lawsuits previous and pending against Challa: from personal tax leins to legal malpractice to "stiffing" clients and contractors. Challa gives hard-working, law abiding attorneys a bad name. HE exemplifies the worst of what the profession has to offer.
