Child Care Services is a unit that provides financial assistance and support programs. Located in Memphis, Tenn., the unit also administers the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), which is a federally funded program that includes reimbursement services for low-income individuals and families to purchase food items. It operates child care resource and referral centers that provide technical assistance services. Child Care Services is a part of the Tennessee Department of Human Services, which offers adult day care, rehabilitation and individual protection services. In addition, the department administers the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), which includes winter heating, energy crisis management and home repair assistance services. It additionally provides vocational training and job placement services to individuals with hearing impairments.
