Located in Massena, N.Y., Jefferson Elementary School has an enrollment of more than 400 students in pre-kindergarten through grade six. It offers courses in social studies, science, math, reading, English, art, instrumental music and physical education. The school provides Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (P.B.I.S.) and Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) programs. Jefferson Elementary School also offers Title I, English as a Second Language, and character and special education programs. In addition, the school provides counseling and guidance services, as well as speech, occupational and physical therapies. Its facilities include a cafeteria, playground, library, computer laboratory and classrooms. It has a student council that coordinates in various events of the school. Jefferson Elementary School operates under the Massena Central School District, which has a population of over 10,000 people and educates nearly 2,500 students in kindergarten through grade 12.
