We provide soft tissue surgery directly on site. We provide all of our patients with comprehensive pain management so they can go home comfortably the same day they have their procedure, however overnight care is also available as needed. We utilize preemptive pain control therapy, local anesthesia, nerve blocks, and multi-modal post-operative pain control so your pet is as comfortable as possible and recovers as quickly as possible.

Our eyes, ears, and hands can only tell us to much. A valuable extension of any physical exam is often lab work - whether it be tests on blood, stool, skin, fur - you name it - sometimes lab testing is required and very beneficial. For chronic conditions like Thyroid disease, Epilepsy, and Diabetes, routine testing is the best way to keep your pet healthy.

We keep each anesthetized patient safe with state of the art anesthesia monitoring systems which utilize human-grade technology - including ECG, automatic arrhythmia analysis and detection, Pulse-Oximetry (blood oxygen measurements), Capnography (Carbon Dioxide and breathing measurements), blood pressure, and core body temperature reporting.
Periodontal Disease Treatment
If you notice any of these symptoms, your pet is probably already long overdue for intervention. In fact, over 80% of pets over the age of 5 have at least some form of periodontal disease. By the time it is recognized, many pets have already lost several teeth, or have to have several extracted. Dental disease can also cause significant issues with a pet's heart and kidney health before the problems in their mouth are even noticed by their families.

Veterinary Surgery
We utilize Class 3B Laser therapy (LLLT) for all of our soft tissue surgery patients at no additional cost to pet owners. This helps increase both patient comfort and healing speed post-operatively.
Spaying and Neutering

Laboratory Services
Sometimes our patients need more specialized testing, and that's when referral laboratories come in to play. When it comes to referral lab testing, it's all about who you know and how fast you can get results back. We work with not one, but two different national labs, and have access to nearly every other University lab in the country. We have dedicated courier pickups from multiple laboratories every evening that transfer your pet's samples directly to the testing facility. We get results back not in a week, but in a matter of a few days in most cases.

During a dental prophylaxis, we utilize the the Progeny Complete Intra-oral Dental Radiograph system to obtain high quality digital images of the entire structure of your pet's teeth - both before and after any necessary oral treatments.

Dr. Jeff Callahan grew up in Baltimore County. As long as he could remember, he always wanted to be a veterinarian. He graduated from Towson High School and attended the University of Delaware where he fell in love with large animal medicine, working on all aspects of the college farm. He graduated with a BS in Agriculture and went on to attend the VA-MD Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. He graduated vet school in 2004 and started practicing large animal medicine in southern PA and north-central MD. After 5 years of large animal work, he and his wife Dr. Baker bought Manchester Vet, where he adopted the role of small animal vet. Dr. Callahan's primary interests are surgery and ultrasound. He currently lives with his wife Dr. Baker and their two children in Hampstead, and spends his free time competing in ultramarathons and Spartan obstacle course races.
