Located in Madison, Wis., the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Wisconsin Medical School offers a variety of educational programs, research contributions and clinical care to the community. The department offers training opportunities in a variety of settings that include University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics, a tertiary care hospital; Meriter Hospital, a community hospital with adult and child care. The department's outpatient programs offer various models of care, including health maintenance organizations, traditional fee-for-service and other contracted services. It also offers specialty programs, such as anxiety disorders center and comprehensive sleep disorder program. Its residents participate in a nationally recognized prototype community psychiatry program at the Mental Health Center of Dane County, Wis., and several community outreach programs.
