Dental Examination
Like all dental treatments, getting veneers will begin with you having a conversation with one of our dentists. During this appointment, you’ll have a chance to express what you would like to change about your smile, followed by a brief oral exam. Oral Cancer Screening
As part of your standard preventive visits, we won’t only be looking for cavities and gum disease, but we’ll also be checking for signs of oral cancer as well. Early detection is absolutely essential to successfully treating and surviving this disease, which is why we’ll examine your mouth for any suspicious sores, growths, or discolored patches of tissue you might not have noticed. If we find anything, we can help you quickly get a biopsy and diagnosis so you can begin treatment right away.

Teeth Cleaning
If we determine that you have periodontal disease, our first course of treatment will involve giving you a special type of dental cleaning called scaling and root planing. This is similar to the regular cleanings you receive every six months, except it is solely focused on the gum line and roots of the teeth. It’s designed to remove the harmful tartar and bacteria deposits from along the gums that are the root cause of the infection. Also during this procedure, the roots of your teeth will be smoothed out, which will prevent plaque from gathering around them in the future, drastically lowering your chances of reinfection.
Fluoride Treatment
Essential preventive care (such as biannual checkups and cleanings, diagnostic X-rays, and fluoride treatment for patients under the age of 18) is covered at or near 100%.
Dental Sealants
Dental sealants allow us to place an invisible barrier over the most vulnerable areas of the teeth in order to prevent decay and cavities. For most people, the first place they will develop a cavity is on the chewing surfaces of their back teeth. Their grooved surfaces easily trap plaque and bacteria, and their location makes them particularly difficult to completely clean. So, we can apply a thin, clear layer of composite resin to literally seal off the enamel and keep it protected from harm.

Resin Composite
Direct bonding utilizes a material called composite resin, which is actually the same substance we typically use to fill cavities. We begin the treatment process by having one of our dentists numb the area around your problem tooth. Next, we apply an etchant material to help the resin better adhere to the pits and grooves in the tooth’s surface. We then apply the putty-like resin (which has been color-matched to blend in with your existing enamel) to the tooth in layers until it’s built up to the perfect size and shape. Once the material has been absorbed into the porous enamel of the tooth, we use a curing light to harden the resin into place, creating a powerful bond between the resin and the tooth (hence the name “direct bonding”). Lastly, the material is smoothed and polished, leaving you with a perfectly flawless grin.
