Provided by SuperpagesI want everyone to know I've been suffering with a continuous headache since June (over 2 months) and when I went to Dr. Awaila he seemed genuine and interested in treating me and helping me find answers to why after 15+ years that my migraines and headaches have come back full blown and worse than I've ever experienced. We tried several medications- Topamax that I was on for about a month- which resulted in me having a kidney stone that caused a full obstruction where I had to have emergency surgery to have it removed. At that time I was told to stop taking the Topamax til further notice. My headaches persisted and got worse with time with NO medication or direction. I called and waited 3 days to get an answer and to be told to try a new medication-Lamictal. I've now been on this med for 1 week. I still have a continuous headache, nausea, vomitting and now developed severe abdominal pain. I call Dr. Awaila's office today regarding possible side effects of this medication and I'm told to stop taking the med and he can't do anything for 1-2 weeks. I asked what I'm supposed to do for headaches in the meantime and told he won't prescribe me anything. I told his secretary I'm not looking to be prescribed anything, whats the plan??? I already know I can go to the hospital for a temporary fix and get a shot, but that is not what I'm looking for! I want to know what the game plan is. I'm not comfortable being told to stop doing everything and do nothing while MY quality of life diminishes with each day because my headaches get worse and worse. So, his response is for me to get a second opinion from another neurologist, cancelled my upcoming appt on Tuesday after the holiday, and dismiss me as a patient. What kind of doctor dismisses a patient because they ask questions regarding their treatment, especially since the last time I had severe pain I ended up being admitted to the hospital to have emergency surgery?! So, now I'm left with still a headache, no guidance, and now to find another neurologist, after Dr. Awaila hung up on me! Do yourself a favor, do NOT waste your time and find a real Doctor with a real office, and staff who truly care about their patients who don't abandon them when they ask questions. Are we not supposed to ask questions about the care and treatment we recieve, especially when you're having seriots side effects to a medication? We're just supposed to lay down and die and do nothing? I can't imagine not having a nursing background and realized the last time I had a serious side effect to call an ambulance because I had a kidney stone. If I would have followed said advise I was given today, who knows what would have happened!

Provided by SuperpagesI recently too my mother for appointment at this office. Doctor spent time with us and explained everything. Office staff is very friendly and prompt. We are very happy with our visit at this practice. I have already recommended it one of my friend.
