General Info: Children’s Dental Surgery of Lancaster serves pediatric dental patients in the greater Lancaster area and beyond, allowing children to receive the restorative dental care needed to maintain a healthy smile. Our center consists of state-of-the-art technology for superior surgical care, as well as comfortable, patient-centered spaces for our young patients to receive treatment and recover from their procedure. We have a special space in our lobby for children to enjoy toys and entertainment to reduce anxiety as they wait for their procedure to begin. We’ll do everything we can in our center to ensure you and your child’s comfort.

Dental Examination
After the new x-rays are reviewed and a full dental exam is performed, our dentist s will identify and complete ALL necessary treatment while in the operating room. They will not exit the sterile operating room to explain or review the additional treatment until the surgery is complete.

Space Maintainers
If a baby tooth has been extracted, we will sometimes place a space maintainer in your child’s mouth. This small orthodontic device helps maintain space for the adult tooth to grow in and prevents any other baby teeth from shifting into that space. Some space maintainers can’t be placed in the operating room, so a dentist may need to have a dental lab create a space maintainer custom-fit to your child’s mouth.

Resin Composite
For small cavities, we use a white composite resin filling. If there are larger cavities, multiple cavities in between teeth, or multiple cavities in the same tooth, we will place a cap or crown on the affected teeth. If the decayed tooth is a back molar, we’ll use a silver crown. If the tooth is in the front of the mouth, we’ll use a white crown or cap.

Children’s Dental Surgery offers a child-friendly clinical environment for the treatment and restoration of pediatric dental patients. Children who are referred to have work completed in our centers typically require procedures such as fillings, crowns, and extractions of baby teeth. These procedures allow dentists to properly restore baby teeth or to eliminate diseased teeth to restore the child’s mouth to a healthy state.

Dental treatment is an excellent investment in a child’s well-being and healthy development. However, because insurance does not always cover 100% of the treatment costs, we are happy to help discuss flexible options and ideas to ensure affordability. We also recommend considering Care Credit, the healthcare credit card that offers interest-free financing, for which any family can apply. It can also be used for other healthcare needs, such as vision, braces, dermatology, etc. With Care Credit, you are not charged until after the procedure is complete.
