Torrey Pines Orthopaedic Medical Group, Inc. is a provider for standard Medicare, most Preferred Provider Organizations (PPOs) and Workers’ Compensation carriers. We will bill all contracted insurance companies. In certain circumstances, special arrangements may be made with our patient account representatives to provide courtesy billing for non-contracted insurance plans.

        Would you be surprised to learn that Dr. Richard Brown will not treat any patient who uses any form of Obama-Care insurance? This was my experience when I tried to book an office visit to treat an aggravated trigger finger. The rather snippy appointment-setter said the board of Torrey Pines Orthopedic Medical Group Inc. has decided as a matter of policy NOT TO TREAT AFFORDABLE CARE ENROLLEES, not even for cash. Yes, that's right. WHEN I OFFERED TO PAY CASH IN ADVANCE FOR THE PROCEDURE, THEY REFUSED ME AS A PATIENT. She said they were not allowed to treat any ObamaCare patients, not even if they were paid cash up front for the procedure. She also refused to give me an estimated quote for the proposed procedure.

        I inquired from her whether or not it was even legal to refuse me as a cash patient in lieu of health insurance. She said it is legal to refuse to treat anyone they chose to for whatever reason they wanted. I replied it may be legal, but it is DEFINITELY NOT MORAL. I WOULD BOYCOTT THIS PRACTICE IF I WERE YOU. And please, tell your friends.
