Owned and managed by The Nature Conservancy, Nags Head Woods Preserve on North Carolina’s Outer Banks protects one of the largest remaining maritime forests on the East Coast. Hiking trails are open to foot traffic only from dawn to dusk every day. Leashed pets are welcome on trails 4-8; bicycles are welcome on the gravel roads. Parking is limited, so avoid the busy times between 10:00am and 3:00pm. Insect repellent, hats and drinking water are suggested during warm days. Be safe and follow regulations! Always stay on designated trails and know your limits.
