I am 55 years old and last year I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. The joints in my hands, elbows, and feet ached and were swollen. The rheumatologist suggested going on several drugs. Yes, absolutely. All IPM doctors can act as primary care physicians for patients who have Medicare. IPM doctors will still be able to write prescriptions for pharmaceutical medications, laboratory testing and referrals. Because IPM will no longer be a contracted provider for Medicare PPO after December 31, 2018, we will no longer be able to bill Medicare for any services received in our facility. Most laboratory testing will continue to be drawn in our ofce and billed to Medicare by the lab that runs the testing.

Martha Wittenberg received her BA in Biology from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania and attended Drexel University in Philadelphia for her Master’s Degree in Public Health and her Medical Degree. She and her husband, an Emergency Medicine doctor, then migrated to the warmth of Southern California for residency training. She is a graduate of the Long Beach Memorial Family Medicine Program, and is Board-certified in Family Medicine.

After years of painful symptoms and a few stumped doctors, a second colonoscopy finally revealed I had severe ulcerative colitis. The year leading up to the diagnosis was particularly difficult, as the symptoms had progressed quite a bit. I first appeared to Dr. Sosin in December and I hadn’t been taking any prescription medication, I was trying Traditional Chinese Medicine in combination with controlling my diet and lifestyle. I had tried the prescription drugs for a few weeks after the initial diagnosis and had very strong side effects, which were to me as bad as the disease. When I first came to see Dr. Sosin, I was previously told by my former endocrinologist that I had Hashitoxicosis, a disease of the thyroid that could swing either way between hyperthyroidism (over active) and hypothyroidism (under active). Consequently, over the course of about 16 months, I was prescribed different drugs to control the swing between the two extremes. My health suffered greatly, not only from the disease but from the side effects of the drugs. While on Synthroid, taken for hypothyroidism, I continued to be very tired, experienced headaches as well as shortness of breath at times. I knew at this point I needed to look elsewhere for help.

Dr. Zuzelski has received training in Bio-identical Natural Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) for men and women, including the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid disorders. She has training in the use and insertion of bio-identical hormone pellets and offers pellet therapy as an option when appropriate for her patients. The recommendation from surgeons was a total knee replacement. I have had two PRP injections for my left knee and now am walking pain free. Previously I could barely walk with a cane. I do not need knee replacement nor a partial knee replacement.

Dr. Zuzelski attended the Hackett-Hemwall-Patterson prolotherapy training conference and participated in their annual Honduran mission trip, where she was able to treat patients with a variety of conditions with prolotherapy. She was inspired by how effective prolotherapy was at treating common, difficult-to-treat conditions. To better diagnose and treat her patients, she learned musculoskeletal ultrasound and completed the ARDMS certification program. In addition to prolotherapy, Dr. Zuzelski has experience in treating patients using platelet rich plasma and other regenerative therapies to more effectively heal injuries.

I first experienced pain after a trip to the gym where I injured my left knee on one of the machines. After a diagnostic MRI of my left knee I found I had torn miniscus. It was painful. I went to Dr. Sosin on routine exam and noticed a flyer in his office on prolotherapy. After 3 visits with Dr. Sosin for prolotherapy on my knee, I am pain free.
