If I could I wouldn't even put one star for this establishment. I have been taking my dog here for about 3 years now; until now. In the beginning they did a great job, but as the years passed the quality of work diminished. The past few times when I have picked up my dog he has had knicks in random areas on his body. I gave them the benefit of the doubt thinking that my dog may have moved unexpectedly or some kind of mistake like that. I just took him there yesterday and have never been more upset or disappointed. They scalped him so bad with the razor that they used, they took off at least a layer of skin in a 3"" area on his side. First they tried to tell me that this ""rash"" was there when I dropped off my dog, which we all knew wasn't the case. They then insisted on telling me that my dog had a bad reaction to a brush that they used, no one would own up to the fact that they sliced his skin off. I understand that mistakes happen but when you take me for a fool and lie to my face about what clearly happened I am not OK with that. I argued with who said he was the owner and the groomer for my dog that day and he only refunded me the de-matting fee which was $20 in addition to the $45 for his grooming. I have never had to spend $20 to have mats removed in the 3 years that I have been taking my dog there, so this was a brand new expense to me. Now I have no idea what kind of services my $45 covers. Not to mention how horrible the cut was that they did on him. There are uneven sections all over his body, they didn't even trim up his beard and there are knicks all on his underbelly yet again. I couldn't even ask them to touch him up because my dog was so petrified and just wanted to go home. The only thing that he offered me was a visit to their vet clinic on their dime in Castleton, which with this wound we have to go. Ointment isn't going to cut it as far as treatment goes. What kind of owner does shoddy work like that on a dog, scalp his skin so badly that now a vet visit is required and returns the dog to the owner blaming it on allergies like that? Own up to your mistake and don't lie to your customer. Ever. I would have been less upset if he had just apologized, but this arrogant jerk couldn't even bring himself to do that. I am shocked and appalled at the business ethics and lack of morals this establishment and owner practice. The worst part of it all is how badly traumatized my dog is after this last visit. He was shaking when we picked him up and shook and moaned all night last night. It breaks my heart to see him so hurt and in so much pain. He isn't the same dog today but hopefully after a visit to the vet and some pain meds he'll be back to normal soon. I would never recommend this place to anyone. After everything that just happened in this last visit I will never return, advise others against going and do what I can to get the word out about this wretched establishment. It is such a shame that it happened and the way that it was handled by their owner. Horrendous.
