Too bad to hear. This place used to be a shining example of technical expertise and customer service.
Based on my past experience with these guys I'll say they may be fine of you're just shopping for a basic internet or business PC, but if you're an enthusiast or into gaming shop elsewhere.
I had a terrible time with them when they built a gaming pc for me awhile back.First off, they used an inferior, cheaper graphics card in the system than what I had paid for. I had to do the research on the card myself and prove to them that they'd built the system with the wrong card. Then they blamed their supplier for the problem which didn't sit well for me since they're the ones who put the system together.
For weeks after I brought the system home I had problems running any games on it, even older games that ran on the pc I was supposedly upgrading from.
Craig kept saying the problem wasn't the pc but the games! he claimed that games companies all used different drivers for their games and that I had to fine and apply patches to get them to work on my pc. Now, this may have been true back in the 80s ( maybe), but since Direct X? Um, no. If you're store built pc can't even run games with low system specs like World of Warcraft or old games like Half Life or Doom 2 then something is wrong.
They looked at my PC a couple times, supposedly even ran diagnostics on it overnight and still I had the problems.PC would run for a bit then would lock up, and I'd have to reboot. Eventually it even started doing this while surfing the internet or reading email! And still they said nothing was wrong with it.
Finally I took the pc (which I'd spent about 1200 dollars on btw) to another shop in town. After running memtest on it for 5 minutes in front of me they said I had bad memory. Actually they said the memory that had been used in the build was cheap and generic and was running way under spec. After buying installing the new memory and adjusting the timing setting all problems were solved.
Shops like this one just give PC enthusiasts and gaming a bad name, and I would never trust them to any kind of work again.Ever.
If you're looking for anything from VGA-to-DVI transformers to parts and complete computers; this is the place to go for greenwood shoppers. My family has been shopping here for several years, with no issues to speak of. More reliable than bestbuy, and much closer to home than fry's.
I took my computer into sucend byte and Craig the owner told me that he could not eleminate a virus. He said that he would have to erase my hard drive and reload and reboot. Two days later he called to let me know what he was getting ready to do and I asked him if he had received the disks that I had dropped off to be loaded. From this point on he accused me of lieing about bring in a trend micro cd. He then proceeded to verbally abuse me, calling me every name in the book for the next 8 minute and 22 seconds. When I went in to pick up my computer the disk that started his rampage was in an envelop with the other disks that I had dropped off.
That day I ran a recovery on my computer myself and fixed the problem that the "computer expert" could not fix.
