The premise behind Blue Plate is simple: there are daily specials, several of them, and you can mix and match your preferences. My DH loves to go on Monday for lunch so that he can get the meatloaf--it is nicely balanced, not too much "filler", tasty and the topping is proportioned nicely. I like the chicken and dumplings. Be sure to try the turnip greens (if available on the day you go). The black-eye peas are literally just like the ones my grandmother used to cook. The entire experience will make you think of Sunday dinner at Grandma's house. Try the banana pudding too. This runs about $10 per person with a gracious amount of food. There are two locations in Huntsville. I can't tell the difference between the food, but the parking is easier at the Memorial Parkway South Huntsville location. Plus, the dining area is huge there so there is little or no wait. Good, hearty Southern cooking at reasonable prices.
