        Founded in 1994, South Shades Crest Animal Clinic provides a range of medical services. It specializes in the areas of ophthalmology, internal medicine, cardiology, reproduction, and dermatology. The clinic also offers surgical, radiology, skin care, immunization, parasite and flea control as well as dentistry services. South Shades Crest Animal Clinic provides after-hour emergency services. In addition, we offer preventative medicine and nutrition counseling services. The clinic conducts regular physical examinations. South Shades Crest Animal Clinic has a laboratory and pharmacy, as well as examination and boarding facilities for cats and dogs. We also provide senior care programs and allergy testing services.         Dr. Susan Stark grew up in Hoover and attended Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. She graduated Cum Laude in 1990 and returned to Hoover to practice veterinary medicine. In February 1994, Dr. Stark opened South Shades Crest Animal Clinic with the purpose of providing high-quality veterinary medical care to her patients and personal service to their owners.

        Dr. Stark and her staff have excellent attention to detail and one of the finest and most sanitary clinics I have ever visited. You are welcomed as you walk in, and have your animal seen in a quick and timely manner with the most professional evaluations to get your loving pet back to its normal healthy self! South Shades Crest Animal Clinic is a must for animal care in the Hoover area. Highly recommend!

        I have been a client of South Shades Crest Animal Clinic and Dr. Stark for a roughly 10 years. I have a anxious dog and two cats (one of whom is very aggressive at the vet). Dr. Stark and her staff treat my pets like their own and treat me with respect. Treatment and diagnostic decisions have been either made together or with permission in advance. Be warned though -- my pets are my children. I love that Dr. Stark never makes me feel like I am a worry-wort pet-mom. I also love that I have somewhere to board my dog with separation anxiety when my husband and I go on vacation. We used to try pet sitters and he always got violently ill. At South Shades Crest Animal Clinic, he boards without any complications and I feel safe leaving him there. I can go on vacation without any stress as to his health. This clinic is the best in town!
