Overall
I had all four of my wisdom t...

I had all four of my wisdom teeth pulled yesterday. It was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. When I arrived for my apt. I let the nurse know that the pain medicine (vicodin) they had given me last week had made me anxious and jittery and reminded her that I had an anxiety disorder and would like some other kind of pain reliever. She just nodded. When I got in the chair and the doctor (Dr. Brian Lambert) never looked at me, or acknowledged me really. He gave me a quick, “how you doing today?” as he put his gloves on. He seemed impatient as he waited for me to fall asleep. I went under feeling VERY nervous but it was too late to say anything or ask questions. The opportunity had never really been given anyway. When I woke up, I was groggy and confused. The doctor left immediately and I wanted to ask how it went, but no one was around. The nurse shoved a bunch of gauze in my mouth without saying anything and walked away. When the next nurse came in she lectured me that I needed to swallow and that I was biting the gauze wrong. At this point, I was shaky and anxious and nauseous coming out of the anesthesia. When she gave me the prescription, it was the Vicodin I had asked not to have. I tried to tell her again that it wasn’t what I wanted but she literally waved her hand and told me, “Well then just take the Tylenol.” I left in tears. When I got home, I was still bleeding very heavily and was in quite a great deal of pain. I took a Vicodin like prescribed, it did very little to help. 2 hours later, I was still bleeding heavily and still in serious pain. The information packet said to take another pill if that was the case. I did and soon after had a panic attack. By now it’s been about 4 hours since surgery. I am STILL bleeding and in pain and the medicine had me buzzing around the house in circles. I called the office to find out if I could get something else and what to do about bleeding. They lectured me that I had been biting the gauze wrong in the office and I was obviously not doing it right to still be bleeding (and that “bleeding might be overreacting, you should have a pink tinge”. I was bleeding. As bad as when I left, 4 hours later.) When I started crying and hyperventilating they refused to give me a different prescription and accused me of trying to get more pills! After 45 minutes of me crying on the phone and being left on hold, they agreed to let me have a different medicine if I brought the Vicodin back to the pharmacy! So my husband had to leave me alone, feeling very high and scared and having a third panic attack to drive 45 minutes back to get the new meds. So, still bleeding, I called back once more about the still serious bleeding (5 hours after surgery) and this time the nurse was very rude and told me that I was doing to myself because I was so worked up. I tried to tell her that I was doing my best but I was scared and alone. She just spoke to me like I was a petulant child and hung up.

The whole day was so overwhelming. I am still shaken. It takes a lot of trust to let someone put you to sleep and do surgery on your face. I should have done more research and met other surgeons. I really hope this helps someone.
