I made an appointment for a teeth cleaning. I am a new patient and said I do NOT want xrays. The receptionist said not a problem (I just sign a waiver). So they see me 15 minutes late after I came in 10 minutes early to do the paperwork. The dentist is not comfortable due to liability to clean my teeth with out an xray. What a waste of my time coordinating a babysitter and driving 20 minutes for very poor service. They don't have a clear policy if their receptionist says one thing and the doctor and dental hygienist say another. I have dental records I could give them, but they just want to make money with xrays. Xrays are dangerous and overdone. Horrible customer service and they lost 4 patients and I will tell everyone I know not to go to these money grubbing dentists who are only interested in selling you xray service. I mean come on , an excuse is liability when even the receptionist said all I had to do was sign a form saying I refused the xray. Getting frequent dental X-rays appears to increase the risk for a commonly diagnosed brain tumor,



Exposure to ionizing radiation -- the kind found in X-rays -- is the biggest known environmental risk factor for largely non-malignant meningioma brain tumors. Routine dental X-rays are among the most common sources of radiation for most healthy people in the U.S.



The new study suggests that performing frequent X-rays may expose patients to unnecessary risk.
