Juan has taught my son, Bobby, the classical guitar for more than 8 years. When I first met Juan, my son was 9 years old. I expressed that my goal was to have my son capable of receiving a musical scholarship for college. He encouraged me that he could have Bobby positioned for that when the time came. For 8 years, Juan has been tirelessly committed to bringing that to fruition. He is not only a great teacher but well versed in all respects. He is like a walking encyclopedia of musicial knowledge. He often shares historical information about the past and present great players which makes my son knowledgeable and well rounded when communicated with others about classical guitar. Recently when I had the opportunity to communicate with one of the nation's top college guitar teachers, I mentioned to him that Juan Carlos Vera was Bobby's teacher and he indicated that he knew Juan as a "very knowledgeable person of the guitar." This came as no surprise but was reassuring that staying with Juan for nearly a decade was the best choice we could have made. My advice to any parent who desires to see their child thrive in the classical guitar is to give Juan a try, and they will not be disappointed. However, I do issue one caveat, he does insist on parental support as one of the main requirements if you want to see your child's hidden talent revealed.

Thanks to Juan my son, as he enters into his senior year of high school, is being pursued by various prestigious schools because of his musical talent and ability!

I have been taking my sons, Matthew and Aaron to Juan Carlos for almost 4 years. They started guitar classes when they were 7 and 5. Juan Carlos has a systematic approach to playing guitar. The kids started with playing very simple songs and are presently at an advanced level. Juan Carlos is very patient with the kids, yet can push them enough to take them to a new level. He pays attention to small and big details that positively influence ability to play. I have no plans for my sons to be professional guitar players, but this ability to play a musical instrument and understand and appreciate music will make them more well rounded people. I believe Juan Carlos is a big part in making that happen.

I am an adult that has been taking lessons with Juan Carlos for about 4 years. I have taken lessons many times in the past with other instructors and was never satisfied. Juan's teaching style and personality is well suited as a guitar instructor. His attention to detail and patience are apparent. Juan Carlos is an excellent guitar instructor. He is very professional, patient and works well with children. We have seen significant progress in our son's performance in the little time he has been receiving lessons. I do recommend him as an instructor.

Juan Carlos always goes FARTHER of complying with a class price only. He never stops searching for each kids learning potential. His passion for music is reflected in the way he shares all he knows with his students. He is a very prepared music teacher, with more than 30 years of experience. Every parent can see an EXTRAORDINARY progress even since the first class. The music studens play is beautiful! His students capture people's attention in a remarkable way with each performance they have: On Tv, community events, schools, filarmonic performance, etc. He is very very patient, RESPECTFUL and disciplined teacher. Before enrolling my daughter, I tried some others "teachers" and I was very disappointed. I'm not impressed very easily because I have musicians in the family and I can tell. My daughter has been under the tutelage of Juan Carlos for the past 2 1/2 years. His sweet and gentle disposition made me confident that he would be a perfect match for my shy little six year old. She began taking lessons as a modest interest in learning to play an instrument. However, my husband and I immediately saw that our daughter was quickly attaining a level of playing far exceeded her peers that had received lessons from other establishments. His love of teaching and passion for the guitar really shine through when working with his students. His approach of combining positive reinforcement and confidence building techniques create an environment for these young children to flourish. Our daughter has been given the opportunity to perform at 3 events as well as on tv program that showcased several of Juan Carlos's students. He is an amazing instructor that helped my daughter blossom into a confident 3rd grader and guitar player.

Juan Carlos is an excellent teacher. He has shown nothing but professionalism in the 2 years my daughter has been going to him for lessons. He is very patient with his students and has a gentle way in which he teaches the guitar. He likes for his students to practice daily, but understands that most kids have many commitments and it cannot be done every day. He does not impose any requirements on his students which is good. If you are progressing and showing improvement and a concert of some type is coming up, he will include the child. If the student is not at the level needed to perform in a concert or on tv, he will work the student to make sure they get into one in the future. It is left entirely up to the student. I will continue to send my daughter to Juan Carlos. He is an excellent teacher.

Ningún alumno suyo pasa desapersivido despues de escucharlo tocar en cualquier sitio, delante de quien sea, hasta delante del mas esceptico - A mi nunca me llamó la atención la música clásica, pero después de lo que he visto en mi hijo, mi opinión cambió totalmente, realmente he aprendido a tener respeto por la música.

Mi hijo es muy hiperactivo, sin embargo el ha logrado mantenerlo enfocado, entusiasmado y deseoso de regresar a la proxima clase. Su manera de cultiva en ellos un genuino interés por la música, por leer música e interpretarla (no en simplemente hacer ruido) es muy peculiar y divertida. Sobre tooodo ésto, que disfrutan lo que aprenden.

Es una persona muuuy respetuosa tanto con los padres como con el mismo alumno. Es un tipazo! Realmente lo recomiendo mucho!!!!!!. Pocos maestros "saben trabajar" con niños como él y hablo en serio, éso no es fácil.

Had to pull my child from lessons after almost three years because the instructor became controlling and unprofessional. He was harrassing her about not doing well and called me to yell at me and when I hung up, he texted me to tell me that as a parent, my decisions were not infalliable . He seems to have forgotten who the child s parents are. I am disappointed that my daughter had to go through what she went through with him. By the way, I am the person that wrote the review below a few years ago.

What an amazing experience. The lessons have helped her not only learn guitar, but improved her focus in school. Juan Carlos, the instructor, is not only respectful and interactive with the parents, his amazing patience, respect and positive attitude as he instructs the students is instrumental in getting them to enjoy learning. He makes them confident so that they are willing to try new things and always makes time to discuss every childs progress after every lesson. While he teaches the children to play, he teaches the parents how to help their children excel. Juan Carlos is dedicated to ensuring the children reach their full potential.
