Lance Line, M.D. maintains an active sports medicine practice with a subspecialty interest in shoulder conditions in Hattiesburg since 1995. He is currently a team physician for the University of Southern Mississippi, is board certified and a member of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Rocco Barbieri, a board-certified, fellowship-trained hand and upper extremity orthopaedic surgeon, spent three years as the head of the division of hand and Microvasular Surgery at the New Jersey Medical School in Newark. He currently is an associate editor for the Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma and is an active member of the American Association for Hand Surgery. Dr. Barbieri serves as Medical Director for the Hand Treatment Center located in The Physician Center at Southern Pointe. Dr. Barbieri was fellowship trained in Reconstructive Surgery of the Hand and Upper Extremity at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He received additional instruction in the art of microvascular tissue transfer at Southern Illinois University. He recently became a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH). Dr. Barbieri served as president of the Southeastern Hand Club in 2015.

Dr. Michael Patterson is a board-certified, fellowship trained spine orthopaedic surgeon. He received extensive training in surgery of the cervical spine, or neck, during his fellowship. This training included such advanced techniques as cervical laminoplasty, taught to him by Jack Zigler M.D., formerly the director of the Rancho Los Amigos Spinal Cord Injury Service in Los Angeles. During and since his training, Dr. Patterson has presented topics concerning orthopedics and spine at local, national, and international specialty meetings. Born and raised in the South, Dr. Patterson has strong family and professional ties to Mississippi. After graduating from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, he pursued training in orthopedic surgery at the University of Kansas. While there, he began to develop his interest and skills in surgery of the spine. This interest was inborn, as his father, the late Stanley M. Patterson M.D. of Memphis, practiced for more than 30 years as an assistant professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Tennessee. His sister, Kimberly Walpert M.D. of Athens, Georgia maintains an active spine practice in Neurosurgery as well. During his residency in orthopedic surgery, Dr. Patterson received further advanced training in reconstructive spinal deformity surgery from internationally respected Lawrence Lenke M.D. This training took place during a six month tour of duty at the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children in St. Louis. He obtained further training in adult spinal deformity surgery as a fellow at the prestigious Texas Back Institute. While there, Dr. Patterson worked side by side with internationally known and respected John J. Regan M.D., now at Cedar Spinal hospital and Barton Sachs M.D. performing everything from tradition scoliosis reconstructions to advanced endoscopic thoracic deformity corrections. Many of the more than seven hundred cases that Dr. Patterson performed during his spine fellowship involved cutting edge technology and innovative, minimally invasive techniques. Typical of this experience was his participation in nearly two dozen artificial disc replacement surgeries, under the direction of Steven Hochschuler M.D. and Richard Guyer M.D., nationally and internationally known spine surgeons, who are principal investigators in the FDA trial of total disc replacement.

Lee received his medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center where he also completed his neurosurgery residency and neurosurgical spinal fellowship. He completed the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s first combined Orthopedic/Neurosurgical spinal fellowship.
