Casual Habana Cafe

I went a couple times to this restaurant. This first time I thought it was pretty good and thought it was great that the owner was so friendly and came to the tables to check on you. But, we went last night and I ordered Arroz con Pollo (a simple chicken and rice dish). When it came to the table, I could smell that the chicken smelled funky. But, for some stupid reason I actually tasted it and so did my husband...it was rancid. It smelled so bad that we had to put it on the table next to us so it was make us sick. So we gave it back to the waiter and he did offer to bring a diff dish, but I declined bc it was getting late and we didn't have time to wait for a new dish to be made. So then when the bill came they actually charged me for the side dish that came with the chicken. At the time I didn't mind, but after being sick for the past 12 hours and counting, I mind! And, that frieindy owner that normally walks around chatting with customers, where was he? He stood in the back glaring at us as we left...like I was insulting his cooking or something. Will NEVER go back!

I am Cuban and would not eat anywhere the food isn't as good as mine....that said, I come to eat here ALOT!!! I have turned so many family and friends on to the place. Benny, the chef, always comes out to greet his customers and is extremely friendly. The portions are big and the prices are small. Make reservations on the weekend since it's small and gets busy. BYOB makes this a perfect place to have a great evening on a budget!
