Grafton Lakes State Park is maintained by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. It spreads across an area of more than 2,000 acres. The park features ponds and sandy beaches. It conducts a range of summer and winter recreation activities. Grafton Lakes State Park's ponds have facilities for sailboats, rowboats, canoes and electric boats. It organizes swimming, game hunting hiking, biking, ice fishing and horseback riding activities. The park maintains trails and also organizes cross-country skiing, ice skating, snowshoeing and snowmobiling activities. It manages the Shaver Pond Nature Center, which administers outdoor recreation and educational programs. Grafton Lakes State Park additionally hosts sand sculpture contests.
