Catherine Young is both a licensed marriage and family therapist (license # MFC36431) and a certified hypnotherapist with a private practice in Sonoma, CA. She has over 15 years of experience working as a therapist with both adults and children. Catherine has training in a wide variety of techniques and therapies including EMDR and EFT, and is able customize therapy to meet the specific needs, wants and desires of each client. Regarding her approach to therapy she writes, “As a therapist I honor each person as a unique individual with his or her own path. In individual therapy I work with my clients, in collaboration, to achieve the best results. I explain and offer choices regarding the modalities used in therapy. I am respectful of, and inquire regarding, each persons needs, wants and beliefs. While I have expertise in a number of therapeutic techniques and a depth of experience, I recognized that each person is the expert in his or her own life. Together we can address whatever concern brings a person to therapy in a safe, healing and productive way.” In addition to working with adults, Catherine has extensive experience in working with young children, ages 3 to 12. She has assessed and served literally hundreds of children in her career, utilizing play therapy, sand tray therapy, behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and/or attachment therapy as needed and appropriate.
