About Smileez and it’s founder Dr. Finch, Dr. Finch received his bachelor's degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel hill. He went on to receive his Doctorate of Dental Surgery and Masters of Business Administration from the State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine and School of Business. Dr. Finch completed his residency at the Stony Brook University Hospital where part of his training was focused on helping patients with dental fear and anxiety. It was during this time that Dr. Finch began to realize how many people were absolutely terrified of going to the dentist and would choose to suffer in silence rather than face these overwhelming fears. Wanting to make a difference, Dr. Finch accepted the position of Assistant Professor and Dean of Admissions and Student Affairs at the School of Dental Medicine where he could help recruit and train future dentists who had a passion for helping patients and giving back to their community. In 2014, Dr. Finch began teaching pharmacology and attending clinical training at Goodwin University where he was involved in numerous community outreach programs which helped him further understand the difficulties and fears patients had in getting to a dentist. In 2015 the American Dental Association ADA conducted an extensive study that showed as many as half of Americans were not going to the dentist and two of the main reasons were fear of dentists, and difficulty in getting an appointment*. It was this data combined with countless heartbreaking stories heard from patients, that inspired Dr. Finch to start Smileez, an alternative to traditional dentistry. At Smileez, there is no invasive dentistry and there is no ‘traditional’ dentist to fear. At Smileez patients can get cleanings, exams and other non-invasive preventive procedures that nobody should fear. At Smileez, there’s no judgment, no pressure and no fear. It’s been called The Disney World of Dentistry.’
