One of the city departments of California, Gardena Fire Department has been operational for more than 85 years. The department provides various fire suppression, medical and emergency services, prevention solutions, and technical rescue, training and preparedness programs. Its fire suppression program includes protection of exposures, extinguishment, ventilation, fire safety inspections, fire scene investigation, nonfire emergencies, hazardous materials response, vehicle extrication, and heavy rescue. The department also handles fire code enforcements, plan checks, complaint follow-ups, safety education classes, emergency management, and disaster preparedness services. Located in Gardena, Calif., it employs more than 95 professional volunteer and career firefighters. Additionally, Gardena Fire Department provides fire protection to more than 15 million-square-feet of residential and commercial properties.
