JD's reputation has degraded over the years. We had all (4) of our vehicles smog-checked to JD's for many years. Today, the vehicle I had checked failed the functional test because he told me the gas cap was bad. It passed all the emissions tests. I watched him fiddle around with the gas cap for about 10 minutes and thought something was up. $62. and an hour of my time wasted.

I checked the cap when I got home and it appears to be fine, but I will take it to a friend's shop and have them test the cap (I don't have the equipment to test). Unfortunately, my friend's shop doesn't perform certified smog testing, otherwise, that's where I would go.

I really should have listened to my inner conscience, because earlier this year, JD failed another one of my vehicles, stating the ECU (computer) wasn't providing data. I paid $62. for the test and he said he would retest it (at a discounted price) when the ECU problem was fixed. I had a Toyota mechanic check the ECU and it was diagnosed as operating correctly. A week later I took the vehicle back to JD for the retest, and it passed with flying colors. Interesting - no repairs were needed to the ECU.

Today, before JD even started the test on my vehicle, he told me that he was thinking about closing his shop because he wasn't making enough money. Now I'm not surprised to see others starting to complain about similar treatment. Cheating customers does not increase one's business revenue, because word get around and customers won't come back once you've screwed them.

He does not do older vans or RVs or motor homes anymore.

Jimmy is fair and honest. The price is also fair. The equipment is up to date and have never had any issues with the DMV using his authorizations.

This guy is very fast, accurate and honest. What more could I ask for? I will use him again.

This guys fails a lot of cars on visula inspection.
