Blue Ridge Lanes

A vintage bowling alley that takes you back to when bowling was the way it's supposed to be and the staff is amazing!!! I went once and have been back many many times since, if you're looking for a new high tech family fun center this isn't the place for you but if you're looking for a true bowling alley then I highly recommend Blue Ridge Lanes!

Essentially, this place has more of a "small town" feel than any lane I have ever been to.



The environment inside, is for the most part, a little dark and gloomy, but has a very rustic aura to it. I couldn't help but feel that I was welcome to be there, even though I didn't live in the local area.



The lanes are far from well groomed and kept in good shape. You can actually see some warping down the lanes as you look at them. The ball, never rolls true, and the pins would appear that they should have been taken to the Smithsonian for display in an exhibit about how pins were back in the day when your grandfather first learned to play.



All of this sounds like a horrible environment for bowling, but in fact, it actually adds to the experience of being in a location that has seemingly allowed the joy of a fun night out bowling fall to the wayside.



Not many customers at any point in time, as I am sure they feel it's a waste, and of course, NASCAR is usually the local highlight.



With a little work, new management that understand the importance of advertising, lane maintenance and the use of competitive website usage, this place actually has the potential to boom with business.



In actuality, it's located right on the main strip of town, and has a decent sized parking lot. It really is in the perfect location for a business to grow.



If I had the money, I would certainly be willing to offer up the cash to buy this alley, as it's always been my dream to own and run a bowling alley, and I think that it has the potential for growth and turn-around with very little work.



Consider this alley, to be the "sleeper-pin" of the bowling world, pardon the pun.



This bowler, actually can't wait to get back and try my luck on the Galax Lanes again in the near future.
