Bently Doonan, MD, MS is an assistant professor in the Division of Hematology & Oncology at the University of Florida College of Medicine. Dr. Doonan earned his undergraduate degree in biology, cum laude, from Coastal Carolina University. He then received both his Master of Biomedical Sciences specializing in cancer immunology and his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina.Dr. Doonan completed an internal medicine residency and a fellowship in hematology and oncology from the University of Florida College of Medicine. During his time at UF, Dr. Doonan took on multiple leadership roles including Chief resident in internal medicine, curriculum development Gator Counsel and quality and efficiency Gator Counsel.His clinical and research interests focus on melanoma, immunotherapy development and design, brain metastases, and identification of microenvironment targets to induce an immunogenic response in advanced metastatic disease.Dr. Doonan is board certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology, the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer and the American Association for Cancer Research.
