Defense Commissary Agency, with headquarters at Fort Lee, Va., operates a worldwide chain of commissaries providing groceries to military personnel, retirees and their families. It has been operational for more than 15 years and manages more than 250 grocery stores in the United States, Puerto Rico, Europe, Asia and Africa. The agency contracts for resale grocery products and resale services sold in the commissaries. It also offers online gift certificates and a shopping list based on items that commissary sells. The Defense Commissary Agency is an agency of the Department of Defense, a federal department charged with coordinating and supervising agencies and functions of the government relating directly to national security and military.
