We took our Kia to Midas for a routine oil change. After leaving I received a call from Brandie. She told me that the right front CV Axle needed to be replaced ASAP. It cost $389. I asked her if the CV axle was part of the car's drivetrain. Brandie said "unfortunately no" the CV axle was not part of the car's drivetrain.
We agreed that based on Brandie’s recommendation, and the fact that she said this was a safety issue, the repairs should be done. After picking up our car I ran a errand where my car sat off for about a hour. When I tried to start it the car would not start and was making a whirling noise. We called Midas to ask them about the car to see if they would tow the car back to troubleshoot the issue. Brandie stated it was probably a dead battery and they would not pay for a tow truck. She agreed to sending a service person out to look at the car asked us to try starting the car several times, confirming that the battery was fine and checked the oil using the dip stick. He said we needed to call Brandie. Brandie stated that they were not at fault for my car not starting a hour after leaving the Midas shop. Seems a little fishy, given the fact that I had never had issues with my car starting before. At that point we felt that they were not looking out for our best interests only their own. We had the car towed to the dealership for them to trouble shoot the issue. We gave the dealership the invoice showing the work we just had done at Midas. The Kia service rep. told us that the CV axel is under the drivetrain warranty.
We would not have paid for CV axel to be replaced, if Brandie was honest with us instead of being persistent regarding the CV axel not being under the warranty when we asked. We trusted that Midas had us the customers, best interest in mind and would have been truthful regarding the warranty. We put our trust in Midas, and we were taken advantage of.

I would recommend any young woman to get a second opinion if you go to Midas Folsom and they tell you something is wrong with your car. I went in for an oil change and tire rotation because I got a coupon for one for 19.99. I got a phone call from them when I was across the street shopping while they were working on it and they told me that my brake pads were cracked and pulling away and they needed to be replaced for a charge of 150 dollars. Being a young woman with a dad who knows a lot about cars, i wasnt fooled and told the mechanic just to do the oil change and I would have my dad take a look at the brakes. So that weekend i took my car to my dad with brake pads in hand in case they were cracked and when he looked at everything, they were just fine. My dad said I still have 20,000 miles or so of life left on them and there was no cracking at all. DONT GO TO MIDAS!
