Dental Sealants
The pediatric dentist will want to see your child at regular and frequent intervals for several reasons. Regular visits keep the child familiar with the pediatric dentist and his or her staff and encourage a pleasant, confident attitude in the child regarding this necessary, life long health practice. Also, as the child develops and grows, the pediatric dentist will want to be certain that tooth eruption and proper jaw development are progressing normally or, if not, that corrective measured are undertaken in time. Appropriate preventive measures such as regular applications of fluoride on the tooth surfaces, placement of pit and fissure sealants on newly erupted teeth, and reinforcement of good daily health practices (brushing, flossing, and dietary advice) can be continually encouraged by the pediatric dentist and his or her staff when the child is a regular and frequent visitor to the dental office. If decay or other dental defect has occurred, it will be detected in the early stages when it is easier and less costly to treat.

Dr. Buccino and Dr. Oliveira have extensive training and experience in all areas of pediatric dentistry and orthodontics. They are committed to staying abreast of the latest techniques and scientific advances in pediatric dentistry and orthodontics by reviewing current dental journals and attending continuing education courses. Our office provide comprehensive services such as preventive dentistry, sealants, restorative dentistry, orthodontics, Invisalign, infant dental care, pediatric dental trauma, oral surgery, nitrous oxide analgesia (laughing gas), conscious sedation (a way of using medication to relax a child without the loss of consciousness), and the option of treatment under general anesthesia in the hospital.

Orthodontics
In 1989, Dr. Buccino received a Diploma for the successful completion of a 425-day curriculum in comprehensive orthodontics at the Doyle Seminar series of advanced courses in progressive knowledge and techniques for earlier and better patient care. Dr. Buccino wrote his Master Thesis on informed consent and has also published articles in professional dental journals on multiple supernumerary teeth and Rett Syndrome. Since 2003, Dr. Buccino has taken five one year courses through the American Orthodontic Society. He studied with Dr. Leonard J. Carapezza, D.M.D. for two years taking the Beginning and the Advanced courses entitled Early Treatment of Malocclusion. The following year in 2006, Dr. Buccino studied with Dr. Larry White, D.D.S., M.S.D. and Dr. William E. Wyatt Sr., D.D.S., F.A.C.D., F.I.C.D. in a one year Advanced Orthodontics course. In 2009, Dr. Buccino completed Dr. Robert Gerety’s two year course in Comprehensive Orthodontic Education. Periodically, he gives dental presentations to dentists, pediatricians, hygienists and the general public.
