Virginia International University is an IRS designated 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization. Being a non-profit means that we are here to serve the community through education-This is why we offer tuition scholarships to high-potential students- we believe that good education should be available to everyone, including those who do not have the necessary funds to pursue higher education. VIU boasts a student body from all over the world and an equally diverse faculty and professional staff. As a result, the experience that VIU students gain during their time here is unparalleled. VIU s small class sizes allow professors devote more individual attention to each student and make education more interactive by increasing student participation VIU is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS), a national accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). ACICS is a national accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education, and VIU s accreditation through ACICS automatically entitles VIU to recognition by the US Department of Education. Due to its national accreditation status, VIU has also been recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Recognition by CHEA affirms that standards and processes of accrediting organizations are consistent with quality, improvement, and accountability expectations that CHEA has established. VIU is certified to operate in Virginia by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV). VIU is authorized by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to enroll non-immigrant students. VIU is approved for the training and education of veterans by the Virginia Department of Veterans Services. VIU is member of the American Council on Education (ACE). VIU is a member of the Northern Virginia Technology Council.
