Kindermusik With Julie

All my friends raved about Kindermusik with Julie but I wasn't sure if my 7-month old son would get much out of it. Boy was I wrong: he LOVES it! He is fascinated by the teacher's voice, and loves to experiment with the toys and baby-sized musical instruments.



The activities are parent-child interactive, so you actually learn new ways to play with your baby that educate and promote brain development. The teacher gives you suggestions for things to do at home, and I keep finding myself singing the music we use in class. I actually don't know who has more fun in this class, me or my son! I love the fact that I'm learning new ways to help him develop a sense of rhythm and timing, which is SO important for later music, dance, or sports classes.



I don't know why a previous reviewer said there was too much talking. The teacher explains the activities as you are actively engaged in them, so there is no waiting between each activity. The teacher creates a very upbeat but calm atmosphere, so the kids learn and have fun without running around screaming or going crazy. It's a great atmosphere for learning, with a structure that caters to short little attention spans.



The music in this class (and on the provided CD) is excellent. Unlike a lot of "made for kids" CDs (which I can hardly stand to listen to) the Kindermusik musical selections include some classical music, world music, standard children's songs, and original music, all with accompanying activities, games, or fun things to do with your baby. The teacher also offers more suggestions for ways to teach and play with your baby for each song.



As a dancer and musician myself, I can't recommend this class enough. We plan on being long-term clients, and taking the whole course (up to 7 years old.)

This is a brilliant class to teach children the fundamentals of music. We have put our 2 children thru this entire program from infancy thru graduation at the young child level. It is an excellent springboard into instrument playing after their graduation. Conceptually it is fantastic, and Julie Wade's energy cannot be matched. Both she and Jeremy are wonderful teachers whom the kids find engaging. My kids LOVE and respect Miss Julie so much. If you are looking for a lackadaisical social hour with other moms/dads this is NOT your program. This is a method that is actually fun to participate in with your child. I feel it's been a huge blessing in our lives. Also, her program has received NATIONAL accolades from the Kindermusik headquarters and has been awarded merits indicating that not only is her program a strong program in our area but nationally recognized as one of the best.

Don't waste your time with this lady. All she wants to do is talk instead of give your child a music class. There are much better programs in the area.
