M & M Cleaning Service

M&M Cleaning was hired to clean a house we were buying by the sellers before they moved. Services were supposedly carried out 1 week after the sellers left, which was approximately 2-3 weeks prior to our arrival.



When we pulled up, ready to move in, there was dirt all over the counters & windowsills, cobwebs in the windows & shelving units with cat hair caught in them, cat vomit on the floor of the kitchen, a nail, earring, & various bits of trash lying in the middle of the floor, & the outsides of the appliances were still spattered with food, fingerprints & grease. We contacted the cleaners wondering if there may have been a scheduling mishap? But Melba with M&M stood by her employees' claims they cleaned. We sent her pictures of the mess & she admitted to the sellers it was not cleaned satisfactorily, but she refused to return any calls to us. She told the sellers, who had moved out of state, she would reclean a few of the items we mentioned... we felt this was better than nothing. But I left several voicemails for M&M that went unreturned. Unfortunately, as the sellers had moved out of state, they felt this was no longer their issue & we should deal directly with M&M. We even offered to pay for additional services so they wouldn't feel they were coming out for nothing! We were a military move, coming in from Alaska, had no cleaning products on hand until our household goods were delivered, & needed our house cleaned ASAP as my husband is mildly allergic to cats & was unable to even enter the home without feeling the intense effects of all the cat hair the sellers' packers kicked up & the cleaning service didn't clean. But when I tried to explain this via text -- the only way she would communicate with me -- the M&M owner, Melba, texted stating she stood by her employees 100% & we should find someone else to come clean our home. She then texted that if I attempted to contact her again, she would file harassment charges against us. The sudden aggressiveness was certainly startling. This entire communication took place over the course of a 28 hr period... it's not as though these requests went on for weeks. I only wish I could include pictures to show exactly what we were dealing with. Even the sellers & M&M's Owner admitted it was not clean! But she refused to do anything to redeem her reputation or resolve the mistake. I have never had a more unnerving experience with a service provider or seen as many inappropriate business practices as I have over the past 2 days dealing with M&M. From what I've heard from other local businesses, however, this is not surprising as they have heard several similar complaints from other families in the area.
