Went on July 4th. Not a big crowd up till 1230am when I cut. Went to hear what was supposed to be retro music on Sat. nights. Was until 1130 or so then moved to more current tunes and techno. You dance once or twice with any energy at all and you turn into a pool of sweat. Seriously in need of some chill or just sucks the fun out of the evening being soaked. Not enough tables scattered around if a big crowd so get there early. Heard it gets so crowded you can hardly move on the dance floor but this night was decent due to the Holiday I guess. Great sound system, could actually hear yourself talk off the floor without having to scream. Nice video show when they had them. Lighting a little lacking so hard to gauge who is across the floor sitting as a potential partner whatever. Saw no shorts allowed in the dress code but folks were wearing them. Would go back on a cool winter night or if desperate for some early evening retro. For a $5 cover, I expect not to be in a sauna. I would have liked a little more retro since billed that way but hey nice place, staff seemed nice, good music and people seemed there to dance. Will check it out again when cooler.
I would like to invite you back to Club 101. We have made several changes since your review. We have been crowned El Paso's Best Hippest Hotspot several years in a row. The new club is nearly double the size of the previous location, and has more of a “warehouse” feel - much like the original 101 that graced downtown for 14 years. 101 strives to keep it interesting, with big live acts, internationally known DJs, '80s nights, comedy shows.
