Overall

Longman was not on-site often enough, work quality was very low. Longman was very unpleasant to work with, especially when we stuck to our guns on what we had agreed to. He has a knack for avoiding responsibility and pushing it on to others. We have grown so tired of hounding him to complete his work that we have to just move on. Avoid this company at all costs is my advice.

I have known Steve Longman personally for twenty years. I built a 7,000 sq. foot custom home in 1992, and selected Stephen Longman Builders from four local Twin Cities builders...two were well-known custom builders and two were smaller builders. I selected Steve Longman based on the reference of others for whom he had built homes since I did not have prior experience with him. During the initial bidding process, I found Steve Longman to be genuinely interested in our project and patient with us during the design process. Twenty years later, in 2011, when were ready for a smaller home, there was no question that I turned to Steve Longman without hesitation to build our “last” home. During the construction of both our 1992 and 2011 homes, we found Steve to have a pleasant demeanor about him that made working with him an enjoyable process...yes, he made it possible to use “enjoyable” and “building” in the same sentence. Steve has a small, but select crew that does his framing, carpentry and painting...all of which were completed with the homeowner’s high expectations in mind. We found the crew attentive to any mid-course changes, as well as offering suggestions and options to help us make decisions. During both projects, we were provided a clear financial accounting of all the costs, provided the requisite lien waivers, such that there was never any legal or financial issue with respect to Steve Longman Builders paying any of his suppliers or tradesman.

7. Lawn Irrigation or Sprinkler System - It is very important the waterline to your lawn sprinkler system is shut off and drained each fall. This will require an air compressor and should be done by a lawn sprinkler contractor or landscape professional.

10. Inspect roof vents and soffit vents for debris. It is important to keep these clean so as to allow the house attic to breath properly.
