The Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Company is located in Dunkirk, Md. Its mission is to protect the lives and property of the community from the detrimental effects of fires, medical emergencies and other hazardous conditions caused by either man or nature. Operations of the department include fire suppression, paramedic and EMS services, disaster preparation, firefighter apparatus, swift water rescue and firefighter training. The fire company employs nearly 100 people at its location in Dunkirk. The Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department is one of the organizations in Calvert County Maryland. The department runs mutual aid with Prince Georges & Anne Arundel County and is staffed by volunteer men and women.
