Went for the first time. Ambiance was fantastic! I love what they've done with the building, keeping the hardwoods and the interior as it is - its very charming for downtown west Dearborn. Their cases are full of a great selection of colorful cookies, mouth-watering pastries, beautiful cakes and a great variety of hand scooped bucket ice creams. We chose a variety of items to take home; the red velvet, bumpy cake and oreo cupcakes, the individual white cannoli cake, a mousse pop and a cronut with mini-chocolate chips on top and a whipped creme mousse in the center. Negatives: One of my children, who isn't picky at all when it comes to sweets of any kind, did not like the thick ("spoiled") taste from the frosting of one of the cupcakes. I brushed it off initially because I didn't try it, but as I ate my cronut - my very first, I might add, I pulled it apart in layers - I couldn't help but notice that the very bottom layer tasted like dirt. But, it was more like the moldy bread that is just starting when you can't see the mold, but you sure can taste it. I inspected it all over, I didn't see anything. I tried it again to be sure and I tossed it out. So, they're getting 3 stars for their products not being as fresh as they should be. To be an upscale pastry shop and charge as much as they do (almost $24 for our 6 items!!) they need to toss or donate their older goods instead of keeping them until its costs them a negative review and business. I'll definitely try them again in the future, but make sure to ask for the freshest product.
DIB has been a fixture in our family since my three brothers and I were kids (the 60's). While my bros. lived and died by their pizza, I loved their fresh bread and apricot/raspberry filled kolache (pastries). I don't live in the Dearborn area anymore, but I visit often. 90% of the time I stop there to pick up something for mom or bring back to my home state. Their stuffed cabbage is superb and they have other fresh made foods (specials change each day). Take out pizzas are quite large. The dough, while thick crust, is not as heavy as other places. They have a great selection of deli meats and pastries, and there is a grocery section in the back that stocks lots of authentic Italian ingredients. I wish I could clone them to take back out west with me.
When I walked in to the fresh smell of bread and pies they looked so delicious my mouth was watering. So if I were you come and eat some zaatar
We had packis from there. They were to die for good!
They sell pizza dough balls. Great fresh bread. Yummy assorted cookies. I don't know that this is a five star place but the 1 star ratings are way off base. I haven't tried the hot food but I imagine it's great cuz the products I do buy keep me coming back.
Wonderful tasting cake and frosting with beautiful decorations. Can order your flavor and colors or they have premaids. Other sweets and great pies too.
A friend took me there today. It is really nice inside and the food is great. I highly recommend this store. I will be going back again.
