Located in Dayton, Tenn., the Rhea County Sheriff's Office-Corrections Division houses inmates who are in pending trial status and serving short-term misdemeanor sentences. The sheriff s office supports the Crime Stoppers program, which is affiliated with the National Crime Stoppers Organization and provides opportunities for citizens to report illegal activities to volunteers of the program. It maintains a special response team that deals with high-risk and dangerous situations, including barricaded persons, high-risk warrant arrests, explosive devices and heavily armed criminals. The Rhea County Sheriff's Office employs a team of school resource officers who act as liaisons between schools and the sheriff's office to provide a safe environment to children.
