If I could rate this store less than a 1, I would. I paid for some embroidery work in advance and after 8 days past the expected completion date I began trying to contact the owner. After days of no answer on the phone I finally went to the shop....twice ....to check on the jacket. I, too, dealt with a woman I assumed to be her mother. I told her I had been calling for days and she said she hasn't heard the phone ring. The embroidery had been done although I never received a call to pick it up. It was not at all what I requested and totally unacceptable. I wouldn't wear it anywhere and certainly would not ask a teenage granddaughter to. The letters are crooked, the wrong size, and the wrong case and type lettering. I went outside to my car and called the store again, just to see if she would answer. The lady did not. I have since leff VM, sent emails, and messaged her on FB. Nicole has not responded to any. The stitching cannot be ripped out without damage to the fabric so I am out the cost of the jacket plus the $13 I paid in advance. I have bought another jacket and have an appointment next week with a shop in Milton who will embroider it while I wait. I would not recommend Peekaboutique to anyone. Of the 4 times I've been there I've seen Nicole only once. Twice she was away with the Spanish Fort football team, and once the store was closed.
So disorganized. My first experience was on a Saturday where the owner had "stepped out" I waited for 30 minutes for her to arrive. (I thought, no big deal its not like I had an appointment.) I came back on the following Saturday to drop more clothing off. I assume it was her mother working. She said that she could not take the clothes in, I would have to wait until Tuesday. I then said okay well I can look around because I know I have a credit because of the items I have sold. I asked if she could look up my credit to see how much I had. She could not do that either!!! Well like most people, I work on Tuesday and don't have time to drive across town and get there before they close. I have decided I would rather donate my clothes than to deal with this place any longer. I have now been trying to reach them so they can cut me a check for what they have sold...conveniently I cannot get anyone on the phone.
I hope somebody is enjoying my $1800 rug that they gave away without calling or informing me. Except they didn't tell me it had been given away up front. The final time I called to check on it, they said, it's past the consignment date, come pick it up. Even once I got to the store, the employee walked me in loops around the store, saying that she saw it recently. Then, after a phone call to the owner (which I had to request), I was suddenly informed that it was gone and chastised for not reading my contract thoroughly. I should have listened to my gut when I dropped the rug off, because they were unhelpful, unfriendly, and abrasive from the first visit. Lesson learned. I will be putting all future consignments in Fairhope, where I had a great experience.
This is the best consignment furniture store in town!
