In 1973 Rev. Wayne Odum, along with his wife and eleven children, moved to Dayville Connecticut with a burden to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the people of the Quiet Corner'. At first the people met in homes. They continued meeting this way until the congregation was able to purchase the former Congregational church of Dayville on Rt. 101. The new church was named Pentecostal Lighthouse'. The church grew. People's lives were touched by the Gospel and changed through the experiencing the new birth' first spoken of by Jesus in the gospel of John chapter 3, verses 3 through 7 and confirmed by the experience of {Acts 2: 1-4 and teaching of the Apostles Acts 2: 36-47 . Pastor and Mrs. Odum's eleven children played a vital role in the expansion of the church. Especially the Sunday School department. Tragically in the early part of the 80 Pastor Odum first contracted cancer. He passed away in 1985. Pentecostal Lighthouse continued its ministry for a period of time with various United Pentecostal Church ministers giving of themselves to help continue the work in Dayville. After a number of months Rev. Mark Odum, Pastor Wayne Odum's son, was elected as Pastor of Pentecostal Lighthouse. He remained as Pastor until 1989 when he felt the call to move to Texas to minister there. In the fall of 1989 Reverend Robert Costa was elected pastor of Pentecostal Lighthouse. He, his wife Ann and two children Lauren and Robert went to work bringing the gospel to the people of northeast Connecticut. Home Bible studies were taught and a Ladies care group started. Through these outreaches new people were added to the congregation. In 1992 the church sold the building in Dayville and moved to 6 Academy Street in Danielson. The name of the church was changed to its current name First Apostolic Church. Pastor Costa was elected Pastor of Prayer Tabernacle in Worcester Massachusetts in the summer of 1995. Reverend Steven Leite of Plymouth, Massachusetts was elected Pastor in August of 1995. He and his wife Deborah moved to Danielson in the fall of 1995. Under his leadership First Apostolic church has worked to fulfill the call of Jesus to preach the Gospel to every creature. Pastor Leite and the entire congregation wish to extend an open invitation for you to join us. We believe you will find our worship and Word services to be a refreshing change from the ordinary' church experience. Children will love our Sunday School classes. Join us any Sunday at 10: 00 A.M. or Wednesdays at 7: 30 P.M. First Apostolic Church is affiliated with the United Pentecostal Church International and part of the Connecticut District of the U.P.C.I. The U.P.C.I. has approximately 4, 500 churches covering all fifty states. In Canada the U.P.C.I. has churches in every Province. It endorses Bible schools in California, Mississippi, Missouri, Indiana, and Minnesota. The Urshan Graduate School of Theology in St. Louis. Missouri is the official Seminary of the UPCI. The Foreign Mission Division has established churches and Bible schools in 145 nations throughout the world
