Juan Martinez serves as the Chief Compliance Officer and Tax Director. He has over 10 years of experience providing accounting and tax services to individuals and closely held businesses. Juan graduated from the University of Houston Downtown with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant. Juan is also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner. Prior to becoming a CPA, Juan worked as a technology professional for several years.

Our investment committee aims to meet client expectations in line with their overall financial plan. We begin by helping clients define their various investment constituencies and determine their ability and willingness to take risk. Our team manages portfolios on a discretionary basis across five different risk profiles from conservative to aggressive. Portfolios are constructed using exchange traded funds, mutual funds, and individual bonds. Many clients come to The Financial Advisory Group with investments that have a low cost basis, and our investment management team is able to navigate around these constraints to deliver a similar portfolio experience while deferring capital gains taxes. Our team is cognizant that portfolios should be handled differently at various stages of a client’s financial life, from accumulation to growth and on to distribution, and manage client accounts accordingly.

Investment Management
Chris Puckett is an Investment Management Associate at The Financial Advisory Group. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Finance at Mississippi State University and then obtained a Master of Science degree in Finance from Louisiana State University. Before joining the firm at the beginning of 2023, Chris was an intern in the Investment Management division during the summer of 2022. During his free time, Chris enjoys spending time with his Golden Retriever, Fletcher, as well as fishing, golfing, and live music.

Accounting Services
Quincy Victorian has over 8 years of experience of providing tax and accounting services for individuals and small, medium and large businesses. Quincy graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a Bachelor of Business Administration. He has served as a Director for the University of St. Thomas Alumni Board for over 6 years.

Financial Planning
Rick is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, and he moved to Houston after graduating from Tulane Law School. Rick is married to his childhood sweetheart, Connie, and, they are parents of an adult daughter, Renee, who is a proud LSU graduate, as well as a graduate of the Texas Tech University (“TTU”) graduate financial planning program. Rick is the founding shareholder of the firm and has been with the firm since its inception. He devotes a great deal of his outside time to the American Academy of Attorney-CPAs as well as it’s §501(c)(3) foundation, the American Academy of Attorney-CPA Foundation. Rick enjoys spending time outdoors jogging, racing cars, watching sports, loves music of all varieties, and spending time with his cherished Labradoodle, Buddy Guy (named after his very favorite blues musician).
Retirement Planning
Nate Bowen serves as the Chief Planning Officer and oversees the financial planning team developing long-range strategic plans for our clients. This includes cash flow, current financial position, retirement, insurance/benefits and estate planning. He also oversees the bill pay services for family office clients. Nate graduated from Texas Tech University, completing a Master of Science degree in Personal Financial Planning and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner. Nate brings several years of experience to our team, formerly having worked for a nationally recognized retirement planning firm. In the recent past he has served on the board as the director of NexGen and Career Development for the Financial Planning Association of Houston and is currently involved with the NAPFA regional study group. Nate is also a member of Ed Slott’s Master Elite IRA Advisor Group
Asset Management
As the Chief Investment Officer, Steven oversees the firm’s investment analysis, asset allocation, and trading activities. Additionally, he works with clients to determine their risk profile, and discuss their investment results and expectations. He graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance. He is a CFA® charter holder and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner. Prior to joining the firm, Steven worked in commercial banking, insurance, and tax preparation.
College Funding
Rachel Romero serves as a financial planner. She earned a Master of Science degree in Personal Financial Planning from Texas Tech University and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner. In addition to working with the financial planning team, Rachel specializes in education planning and helps to create and maintain our client’s 529 Plans.
