“I brought my 3 year old daughter in for her first dental exam, and she now loves the dentist. she was made to feel important by all the staff from the minute we walked in the door. The receptionist greeted her specifically, recognizing her as a patient, not just my accessory. The hygienist and the dentist approached her slowly, explaining everything to her, showed her how stuff worked and didn’t push when she seemed hesitant about anything. The result was my daughter letting them poke at her teeth with all the scary sharp metal instruments with absolutely no crying. It was amazing. I’d recommend to everyone.”

“I was considered a teeth grinder, partly by heredity and partly by profession. After consulting my local dentist, he suggested breaking my jaw to reset the bite and then capping all of my teeth. This would last me about 5-7 years and then may have to be repeated. I did not want to go through this multiple times. So, in May of 1999, I came to The Family Dental Center. For 10 years Dr. Greg was able to do a small amount of work to preserve what I had before the inevitability of having to do major work. In June of 2011, Dr. Greg Gilbaugh and his Family Dental staff began the reconstruction work without breaking my jaw. I had crowns and bridges put in place and the procedure was finished by September 2011. My wife says I have the smile back that I had when she first met me and that includes a full set of wonderful teeth. I have The Family Dental Center to thank for this restoration. The staff is professional, compassionate, caring and treated me like family! Before this, I never realized what an impact my teeth had on my whole physical well-being. My name is Chad Hanneman, and I am a general dentist at The Family Dental Center. I joined the practice in August of 2009, and am happy I decided to become part of The Family Dental Center team! I was born and raised in Iowa, graduating from Solon High School, just minutes north of Iowa City. I received my dental degree at The University of Iowa in 1999, and spent an additional year as a resident in Advanced General Dentistry. I am proud to be able to say that I was educated in Iowa, and stayed close to home to help serve the community where I was raised. Practicing in an office where I can provide dentistry for the whole family is exciting for me. Cosmetic and implant dentistry are of particular interest to me. What brings me the most joy at work is to hear my patients comment that I have provided a positive dental experience and eased their fears. Outside of work, I enjoy being a husband to my wife, Laura and a father to our young family of three children. I also enjoy spending time with our two boxer dogs.

Hello, my name is Greg Gilbaugh and I started The Family Dental Center in 1986. I attended the University of Iowa on a football scholarship which provided me with many great memories, (along with a couple degenerative knees). I graduated from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 1985, and completed residency training in Advanced General Dentistry in 1986. That training established the foundation to pursue a deep desire I had to serve people with compassion and skill in a field that I truly love and am passionate about. I founded The Family Dental Center with a desire to bring together a team of highly skilled and caring people that would share in the vision of providing an exceptional dental experience for individuals and their families as well as having a positive impact on our community. Today that desire and mission grows into reality. I have been married to my best friend Laura since 1985, and we live here in Coralville along with our nine children. I am also a follower of Jesus Christ which provides me the privilege of being part of the pastoral team at Grace Community Church in North Liberty, Iowa. I look forward to serving you and your family and I will do my very best to make your experience with us one that is truly exceptional! I retired from clinical dentistry as of September 2017.
