My name is Dr. John R. Fowler of Fowler Counseling Center. I am a Licensed Social Worker in practice in Horry County, SC. My office is located at 203 Beaty Street, Conway, SC 29526, minutes from Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand. I accept most health insurance policies and my private pay rates are very reasonable. The best way to determine if you would benefit from counseling, is to complete an assessment or an evaluation that usually takes one or two sessions, then sifting through this information, we would work together to set reasonable and practical goals, objectives, and solutions for your specific problems. Should I not feel qualified or the best person to address your individual problems, I will help you find someone who can assist you. I pride myself on high quality clinical skills while at the same time recognizing my limitations and consulting or calling in other professionals when and if it is necessary. I have travelled extensively, having been raised in the Air Force. I was a medic in the United States Army from 1971 to 1973. I hold a Bachelor of General Studies Degree in Psychology from the University of Kansas which I earned in 1976. I then earned a Masters Degree in Social Work in 1978 from the University of Kansas and I obtained my Doctorate in Clinical Hypnotherapy in 1992 from the American Institute of Hypnotherapy. This degree is accredited and was one of the earlier efforts in combining traditional classroom studies with online academic work & video-conferencing supervision. I have been continuously in private practice since 1979 while also working at various agencies in mental health treatment, alcohol and drug treatment, and administrative capacities.
