Established in 1901, the Compton Fire Department responds to more than 10,000 emergency calls annually. The department offers community outreach and training programs on fire safety, emergency medical treatment and disaster preparedness. It has more than 80 career firefighters and emergency medical technicians. The Compton Fire Department s list of safety apparatus includes fire engines, ladder trucks, water tenders, rescue vehicles, ambulances and hazardous material trailers. The Compton Fire Department offers fire prevention programs for contractors, developers and architects. The department provides advanced life and technical support services.
