General Info: The Muscogee County Jail complex has a bed capacity of 1,069. The jail complex consists of the Columbus Stockade, the 1939 jail, the 1984 jail complex and the newly constructed 2002 jail facility. It is used to house local, state and federal offenders and suspects. Food and medical services are located within the facility. The jail has a staff of nearly 250, which consists of sworn officers, such as correction officers and sheriff's deputies; civilian personnel, such as ID technicians, criminal records technicians, registered nurses and medical technicians; and contracted personnel, such as physician's assistants, physicians, dentists, psychologists and psychiatrists. The Muscogee County Jail is operated by the Muscogee County Sheriff s department.
