Saint Thomas More Catholic Church

What sets St. Thomas More apart from other Catholic churches in Columbia is its relaxed, informal contemporary music led by guitarists and a small choir.



The chapel is quaint, with stained glass windows. Parking is ample. Being on university property, the lots (including faculty) are open and free to the public on Sunday.



The church is very family-oriented. Its parishioners are of all ages, retired and children, and a nursery is available at the 11 a.m. mass.



Father Marcin, originally from Poland, is yong and has a good sense of humor.



It is a very intimate setting. I think children would love the contemporary music too. During the school year, weekly student-led bible studies are offered after mass followed by a free dinner.



I can't wait to go back myself. It really is something special.

I absolutely love St. Thomas More. It is by far the best mass to attend in Columbia, SC. You are welcomed in a way that is necessary to stay a practicing catholic as a student, and even for non-students! Sunday 7pm during the school year is my favorite, less formal, mostly students, the morning masses are mixed, but you still feel welcomed.



Father Marcin does a great job connecting with young adults and the surrounding adult catholics as well. The choir is great and attending these masses have made me realize that is it not hard to attend church, no matter how "busy" you may be.



I won't be back until the Fall, but I look forward to spending part of my Sundays during the next school year at this church!
