Dance Foundations

I have sent my daughter (now 7) to Dance Foundations for 3 years. She arrives and leaves smiling. She likes her friends, the dances she learns, and the teachers. The studios are clean and orderly.



I find the other families there a delight and we all (at least I think) enjoy greeting each other and spending some time together weekly.



The older girls are polite, poised, and responsible. They are aware that they set an example and I have seen them, time and time again, be kind to the younger kids -- be it with fixing a shoe or a bun, or giving a quick wink for encouragement.



I am far from planning a career for my child in the performing arts; if that is her journey, she will make it her way. What she is learning is to stand up straight, to look out into an audience and smile, to listen to adults, to be a good class mate and friend, and to have fun. She is also hearing a wonderful sampling of music and learning a great deal about the history and progression of dance --

Here is my review of each area I can think of.



Dance Instruction - I rate a two because it is very basic instruction. What you are taught is very good technique for a beginner but if you want to do this as a profession then you have to learn more than Fosse from 30 years ago.



Office staff - I rate a zero because there is no office staff to speak of and there is more than enough turnover that there could be somebody new everyday.



Dance staff - I rate a zero because there is basically only one teacher to speak of. When there are some new teachers they will depart for various reasons.



Environment - I also rate that a zero because there are way too many clicks and you will be in good favor until you plan on leaving for something better.



Overall grade - I would rate a zero but you have to give at least a one star rating. Most of the reason for this is the control that is enforced of parents and students because of the drama that is felt in classes and the studio if anybody looks for something better. Please call around and check on each and every school in the area and if you decide that this is where you want to be than I wish you all the best.
