When you see your PCP, he or she may need a Specialist opinion. Planned specialty office visits outside of GHC-SCW Primary Care Clinic networks require coordination by your PCP. Members must receive an approval letter from the GHC-SCW Care Management department before receiving these services. You do not need prior authorization from GHC-SCW, or from any other person (including a PCP), in order to obtain access to obstetrical or gynecological care from a health care professional in your selected network who specializes in obstetrics or gynecology.

Vision testing â€“ Diabetes can produce a complication called diabetic retinopathy, which is caused by damage to the blood vessels at the back of the eye. Uncontrolled diabetes can hurt your eyesight, so it is important to visit your eye doctor one time each year. Finding and treating diabetic retinopathy can help prevent vision problems such as floaters, blurriness, and even blindness.

During an ultrasound test, sound waves are used to create a picture of your organs and other body structures. A small handheld instrument, called a transducer, sends out high-pitched sound waves that are reflected back to the transducer. A computer analyzes the sound waves and converts them into an image that is displayed on a screen called a sonogram.

Mammography
A mammogram is a common method of detecting and locating a lump or tumor of the breast. Because breast tissue is generally more dense than other body tissues, detecting a lump or tumor is often difficult through self-examination. During the examination, low amounts of X-rays pass through the breast tissue and make an image of the tissue inside the breast. A digital mammogram may reveal more detailed information than self-examination or a conventional mammogram.
Computed Tomography
GHC-SCW may use a CT scan to assess different parts of your body in order to diagnose a potential medical condition. CT scans are able to combine a series of X-ray images that are taken from different angles to produce cross sectional images of the bones and soft tissues inside your body. The CT scanner is able to scan your body more thoroughly than an X-ray, and the images created allow your provider to review your health information with greater precision.

The GHC-SCW Sports Medicine Clinic is located in the GHC-SCW Hatchery Hill Clinic. Members may schedule an appointment in the Sports Medicine Clinic by first seeing their Primary Care Provider (PCP), Physical Therapist (PT), or Occupational Therapist (OT) for evaluation. The PCP, PT or OT will place an order for Sports Medicine, as appropriate. Additionally, the GHCNurseConnect Nâ€‹urses can also help patients determine what level of care is most appropriate, as well as the Physical/Occupational Therapy within Urgent Care.
